Philips Water Technologies
Water is something we use every day, but the technology behind better water is not always easy to see.
At Philips Water, we believe better water starts with better thinking: advanced filtration, thoughtful system design, and innovation inspired by the natural world.
Three core technologies
For households looking for cleaner-tasting water and a more confident everyday hydration routine, Philips Water brings together three core technologies: Reverse Osmosis deep filtration, Philips Reverse Osmosis with Aquaporin Inside® for enhanced filtration, and multi-stage filtration with water quality visibility on selected models. Together, these technologies help make better water easier to enjoy at home.
Technology 01
Ultra-fine membrane filtration designed to support deeper purification.
Technology 02
Nature-inspired selective water channels engineered for home filtration.
Technology 03
Layered filtration with water quality visibility on selected models.
Technology 01
Not all filtration works the same way.
Many common water filtration solutions are designed to reduce larger particles and certain substances that affect taste or appearance. Reverse Osmosis, also known as RO, is designed to go further.
RO technology uses an ultra-fine semipermeable membrane to help filter water at a molecular level. The membrane allows water molecules to pass through while helping reduce a wider range of unwanted substances.
Philips RO systems use membrane filtration with pores around 0.0001 micron, supporting deeper purification for everyday drinking water.

Technology 02
The second core technology is inspired by nature's own water channels.
Aquaporins are natural water channels found in living cells. They help move water molecules through highly selective pathways. Philips Water Solutions has partnered with Aquaporin A/S in Denmark to apply this nature-inspired technology to selected Philips RO filtration systems.
This biomimetic membrane approach is designed to support enhanced filtration through highly selective water pathways. For approved use in the U.S. market, the recommended claim is: Philips Reverse Osmosis with Aquaporin Inside® for enhanced filtration.

Technology 03
Better filtration is not just about one membrane. It is about how the full system works together.
Philips RO systems typically use multiple filtration layers before and after the RO membrane. Depending on the model, these may include sediment filtration, activated carbon filtration, RO membrane filtration, post-carbon filtration, and selected mineral or pH-balancing layers.
Each layer has a purpose. Some layers help reduce larger particles. Some help improve taste and odor. Some systems include post-filtration layers designed to refine the final water experience. Selected Philips RO systems also feature real-time TDS monitoring, helping users see changes in Total Dissolved Solids before and after filtration. This adds an extra layer of visibility and reassurance for everyday home use.
